Born into This: Exploring Artistic Individualism and the Influence of Environment

  • UVU Museum of Art at Lakemount 260 W 1800 S St, Orem, UT 84058 Spanish Fork, UT, 84660 United States (map)

Born into This" is an exhibition that delves into the profound impact of childhood memories and the growth of artists, James and John Rees. Growing up with the backdrop of the Utah Country mountain range and receiving their artistic education from the same institutions, the brothers have embarked on distinct aesthetic paths. This exhibition aims to explore the role of individualism and creating divergent artistic paths. Through juxtaposing their different styles, where John's art embodies informality and edginess, while James' work showcases a blend of structure, we delve into the dynamic interplay between their individualism and their unique connection to each other. "Born into This" offers an exploration of the artistic similarities and differences between two brothers, ultimately revealing how their individualism is uniquely intertwined
