Guest Lecture @ UVU Art Department

James Rees, an award-winning artist, teacher, researcher, and widely-known advocate and leader in the art education community, will be presenting via live stream as the art education lecturer for UVU's Art & Design Lecture Series class on September 10th

Rees has consistently created and exhibited monotypes, drawings, and mixed media artworks. His recent works explore the theme of fighting to maintain balance and can be viewed here. 

Rees is a Fulbright Memorial Scholar, a Teachers Institute of Contemporary Art Fellow, and an Art21 Fellow. He has served as a reviewer for the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities as well as the National Endowment for the Arts. He currently serves on the board of directors for the Utah Arts Festival, providing guidance on community outreach and educational initiatives.

Rees has taught at the university, college, and high school levels for over twenty-seven years. He has taught at Utah Valley University, Brigham Young University, and Westminster College. He now teaches at Provo high school.

Join us on September 10 to hear Rees speak about his personal art, his entrepreneurial tips on how to make it in the world as an artist, his students' artwork, and tips for new art teachers.
